Celebrating 50 Years: Acerbis' Modified Honda Monkey Breaks World Record

Acerbis, a manufacturer of motorcycle apparel and peripheral products, announced earlier that in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the brand, they modified a Honda Monkey motorcycle and successfully obtained the Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled on a cylinder of gasoline. This modified 125cc Honda Monkey can travel 4,183.8 kilometers.

This project took a team of engineers two years, from 3D scanning the structure of the original Monkey to making different test models, which underwent a lot of calculations and tests. The cylinder volume of the original prototype design was 114 liters, but after more than 300 laps of the test, the engineers found that they had to use sponge to deal with the problem of gasoline sloshing, and as a result, part of the volume was sacrificed.

It is reported that after reaching the North Cape of Norway and breaking the record, there is still a small amount of gasoline in the fuel tank to continue walking. The Guinness World Record will update the final mileage later.
