Damon Motors make move into Indonesian Market on 2023

“Indonesia has set a goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2060. Damon is equally committed with Indika Energy to achieve this goal together.”

The inspiration to build Damon came to Giraud during a trip to Jakarta, Indonesia in 2016, a country that holds the largest two-wheeled vehicle penetration in the world. A year later Damon Motors was born.

Azis Armand, group CEO of Indika Energy, added: “Indonesia has a great opportunity to transform the riding experience for millions of people dependent on two wheels.

“Our vision for an electrified roadway mirrors Damon’s. Through our subsidiary, PT Ilectra Motor Group (IMG), we are committed to developing EV motorcycles and its supporting ecosystem in Indonesia.

“We believe this partnership will open more opportunities for collaboration to accelerate our go-to-market strategy and meet the country’s net-zero goal.”

Damon’s partnership with Indika Energy comes as the company nears a $100M milestone in orders for its motorcycles. Damon unveiled the HyperSport in 2020 and the HyperFighter in 2022.

Damon Motors has announced a new partnership with PT Indika Energy, one of Indonesia's leading energy companies, to distribute its line of electric motorcycles in Indonesia. The partnership is particularly significant to Damon's CEO and co-founder, Jay Giraud, as his journey with Damon started in Indonesia. The partnership aligns with Indonesia's goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2060, and the two companies are committed to working together to achieve this goal.

Damon Motors has already received orders worth almost $100 million for its motorcycles, including the HyperSport and HyperFighter models. This is a significant milestone for the company, which is still relatively new, having been founded in 2017. Damon's HyperSport model was unveiled in 2020, and the HyperFighter was introduced in 2022.

This partnership is expected to open up new opportunities for collaboration between the two companies to accelerate their go-to-market strategy and promote the adoption of electric motorcycles in Indonesia. The country has the highest two-wheeled vehicle penetration in the world, making it an ideal market for Damon's electric motorcycles. The partnership is also expected to create new opportunities for the development of electric motorcycles and their supporting ecosystem in Indonesia, through PT Ilectra Motor Group, a subsidiary of Indika Energy.

Overall, this new partnership is a significant milestone for Damon Motors and their efforts to transform the motorcycle industry at a global level.
