Kawasaki won the Suzuki 8 Hours 2019 after a dramatic turn in the last 20 minutes
In 28th Jul 2019, Kawasaki Racing Team won the Suzuki 8 Hours 2019 with Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR.
In the last 20 minutes, Jonathan Rea was riding for Kawasaki Racing Team, the time between the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, Kawasaki Racing Team, Yamaha Factory Racing Team and the Red Bull Honda Team were just seconds apart.
The Suzuki was ready to take their championship for the race, but their motor was blew at turn three. Dumping oil on the racing track from the Suzuki motorbike causing Rea to crash, and was unable to get his bike back to parc ferme within 5 minutes.
Yamaha Factory Racing Team were declared the winner at that time, however Kawasaki Team appealed. Their argument being the race should have been taken back to the last lap completed and the 5 minutes rule disregarded.
Final decision made, the race result was taken back to the lap prior to Rea's crash. Kawasaki Racing Team won their first Suzuki 8 Hours Endurance Race since 1993 (26 years). Yamaha Factory Racing Team demoted to second place and Red Bull Honda Team got third.
